Beyond affordable housing,
we are a vibrant community where active participation fosters a sense
of belonging and shared purpose.

About
Us

Founded in 1983 on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam peoples, Sojourn Housing Cooperative began with the mission of providing safe, affordable housing for single-parent families and queer individuals in Vancouver’s West End. Member participation has always been vital to our success, and we carefully select members who are committed to actively engaging in our small, close-knit community. Today, we welcome people from all walks of life, staying true to our founding values while striving to enrich both our co-op and the broader community.

  • At Sojourn, active participation is key to our thriving community! In accordance with the structure of co-op living and the Occupancy Agreement of Sojourn, all co-op members are required to serve on committees, attend monthly meetings, and contribute to the maintenance and smooth running of our building. Whether it's helping out at work parties or joining a committee, your involvement helps shape the vibrant atmosphere we all enjoy. On average, each adult member dedicates 2 to 6 hours a month, depending on the committee—time well spent in building connections and making a real impact in our community!
